Steps Towards Amazing Health

We all hear about diets-Miami Beach, Cookie, Atkins, Low Sugar. But diets are diets and no matter how many of them we attempt, the bottom line is that good health comes from good eating habits. Consistent, healthy, organic habits. These habits will stay with you for a lifetime, whereas diets are fads. The come and go and your weight will fluctuate. Here are some guidelines for a healthy lifestyle.
1.You are what you drink. Water, water, water. Our bodies are made up of 70% water. Our blood is made up of 90% water. Our bodies cannot survive without water. 3.Have a positive attitude. Attitude is everything! Have you ever heard of the self-fulfilling prophecy? What we believe will happen may happen. In order for the body to stay in a healthy state of balance, including a healthy weight, you must find the mental, emotional,& spiritual calm, as well as physical stability.  Bottom line: uncontrolled negative thoughts and emotions will often trigger unhealthy eating in a variety of forms, aimed at comforting and consoling oneself.
4. Eat good fats & foods. Avocados are a great source of monounsaturated fats as well as nuts. They are nutrient-dense, have more potassium than bananas, and have one of the richest sources of lutein (protects again cancer & eye disease). Coconuts are a wonderful source of good saturated fats. The good fats in whole natural coconuts may help lower cholesterol & prevent arteriosclerosis. Fresh fish is rich in omega-3s and while you aren't supposed to eat it everyday, it's important to eat. Fiber-What’s the Difference Between Insoluble and Soluble Fiber?

We have all heard about the benefits of fiber; it helps promote health as well as helps prevent certain types of diseases and cancers. Constipation, hemorrhoids, colon and breast cancers, LDL cholesterol, and regulating blood sugars can all be prevented by eating enough of the right types of fiber. But what’s the difference between Insoluble and Soluble fiber?


Insoluble fiber doesn’t absorb or dissolve in water. It passes through our digestive system in almost it original form. Insoluble fiber is great for intestinal health. Benefits are promoting regular bowl movements and preventing constipation; removing toxic waste through the colon in less time; and helping to prevent colon cancer by keeping an optimal pH in the intestines to prevent microbes from producing cancerous substances. It also moves bulk through the intestines and controls and balances the pH in the intestines. Chemicals That Are Harmful To Your Health

This article contains a brief list of chemicals, which you need to watch for when shopping for consumer products. Below are 8 chemicals that should not be present in the products that you use on a daily basis.

1. Propylene Glycol-It's cheap,synthetic,and a skin irritant. This chemical is a base cream used in creams & lotions to make the skin look and feel smooth.The opposite is true. Propylene Glycol may have a reversing effect, causing the skin to be saggy and lose valuable protein.
2. Sodium LaurlSulfate (SLS)-Normally found in shampoos,soaps, and facial cleasers, this chemical has been used for engine degreasers & garage floor cleaners.  It has a degenerative effect on cell membranes and may damage the skin or your hair follicles. SLS may cause cataracts and has been known to have the capability of changing basic coding in your genetic materials contained in your cells and organs.
3.Mineral Oil-Appears to be harmless, right? This cheap and petroleum-based oil may clog your skin's pores and enlarge them at the same time. Mineral Oil prevents the skin cells from exchanging nutrietnts and waste products.
4.Fragrance-It's usually synthetic & made with over 200 synthetic chemicals. These chemicals can accumulate in your organs & could possibly cause headaches, lung problems, skin irritations and rashes. Fragrances are cheap toxins and often will be manufactured to imitate herbal scents.
5.Parabens (Propyl, Methyl, Butyl, or Ethyl)-These are preservatives and known to be toxic.  Parabens can cause allergies & skin reactions.
6.Imidazolidinyl & DiazolidinylUrea-These are the 2nd most common preserviative to Parabens.  Imidazolidinyl & DiazolidinylUreas cause contact dermatitis and release formaldehyde.
7.Synthetic Colors-Used in skin creams or shampoos to make it pretty & colorful.  AVOID synthetic colors AT ALL COSTS.  These chemicals can cause allergies, skin & nerve problems.  They are listed as FD&C or D&C, followed by a number and color.
8.Triethanolamine (TEA)-This is often used to adjust the pH balance. These chemicals can cause allergic reactions including eye problems, dryness in the hair and skin, and may possibly be toxic if absorbed into the body over long period of time.

Pink Salt Flush

Unhhealthy Food Supplements You Should Avoid, Part 2

This is Part 2 of unhealthy ingredients that are found in packaged/process foods as well as in restaurants.

MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) is an excitotoxin, according to Dr. Blaylock. It is used in countless foods on the supermarket shelves, has wide-spread use in restaurants, schools, and hospital cafeterias, and it has even found in baby foods and vaccinations. MSG is highly adaptive and might even be in fast foods.

Dr. Blaylock states that MSG can cause: cardiac problems, circulatory disorders, gastrointestinal problems, muscular disorders, neurological problems, visual disorders, respiratory problems, urological problems, and skin disorders.

MSG use is so pervasive, that it is finding its way onto fresh produce and nuts via products called AuxiGro, which is produced by Emeral Bio-Agriculture. AuxiGro is classified as a disinfectant, fertilizer, and a fungicide. The FDA requires food processors to list the ingredient monosodium glutamate on labels but does not require the listing of free glutamic acids found in MGS. There are over 40 MSG by-products that contain free glutamic acids but these acids are not so obvious on food labels.

These are your MSG "aliases:" Natural flavors, autolyzed yeast, glutamate, calcium caseinate, glutamic acid, gelatin, hyrolyzed protein, textured, protein, yeast nutrient, yeast extract, sodium caseinate, yeast food.

These ingredients often contain or create MSG during the manufacturing process and needs to be avoided when possible: flavors, flavorings, natural chicken flavoring, anything enzyme modified, soy sauce broth, carageenan, corn starch, soy protein isolate, malt extract, MaltoDextrin.

MSG is found in shampoos, hair conditioners, cosmetics, candy, chewing gum, binders and fillers for medications, both prescriptive and non, feeding materials and it can be found in some intravenous fluids. Does the new health care bill subsidize MSG related illnesses? I don't know, but we hope you get the message.

Unhhealthy Food Supplements You Should Avoid, Part 1

When eating processed foods, that are packed in a variety of ways, learning to analyze and read food labels is extremely important for your health. The average person must become a food detective. You are on a special mission to search for hazardous ingredients that are found to be harmful towards your goal of living a long and fruitful life. Many processed foods contain inhibitors for our health.

In Part 1 of this list, I have put together a limited list of problematic ingredients that you should watch for when eating at your favorite restaurant or shopping at the local supermarket. (Part 2 will be a separate blog).

Aspartame (read the book "Skinny Bitch")
Aspartame is a type of artificial sweetener that is marketed under names like NutraSweet or Equal. This substance needs to be avoided. Look at the following evidence:
1. Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D., strongly believes Aspartame is an excitotoxin.
2. Dr. H.J. Roberts who is listed in "The Best Doctors in the U.S., states that Aspartame is the last component in wood alcohol which is considered a harmful poison.
3. The Aspartame Consumer Safety Network states, "when ingested methanol breaks down into formaldehyde, which is a known carcinogen."
4. Did you know Aspartame is 200 times sweeter than sugar? This ingredient has fewer calories, which is why it is gobbled up by weight conscious people. Unfortunately, research shows that this supplement causes weight gain and not weight loss.
5. The Technology Review magazine published an article stating Aspartame stimulates the appetite. Researchers believe that any kind of sweet taste signals the body cells to store carbohydrates and fats, which tend to cause the body to crave more food and gain weight.
6. The list of symptoms caused by Aspartame is vast, consisting of pain including migraine headaches, joint pain, eye problems, memory loss, depression, hyperactivity, and a variety of other symptoms.

Splenda (it's not splendid)
Splenda is a Johnson & Johnson brand for Sucralose.
1. The J&J Marketing Campaign says it is made from sugar and tastes like sugar-however it is a chemically created product that uses substances such as chlorine and phosgene, which has been categorized as a poisonous gas.
2. The Center of Disease Control, in Atlanta, Georgia, has described one of the ingredients in Splenda as a major chemical used to manufacture plastics and deadly pesticides.
3. Splenda is 600 times sweeter than sugar.
4. Research in animals with Splenda provides us with numerous concerns including: shrunken thymus glands (diminished immunity), enlarged liver and/or kidneys, slow growth rate, increase in spontaneous abortions, shrunken ovaries, and calcified kidneys.

It is possible to wash away or detoxify these harmful ingredients with colon hydrotherapy and proper eating habits. The best thing to do, of course, is not use these products at all, or ask when eating out if the restaurant uses these "flavorings." Answers About Candida

Candida is a common type of yeast infection resulting from the consumption of high levels of yeast products in the processed foods we eat.

Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth created by high levels of yeast components in your diet. Yeast, when analyzed from this prospective, is a basic type of fungus which occurs in many areas of your body. Candidiasis is the most normal type of yeast infection. Colonics vs. Colonoscopy Prep-What's The Difference

I wanted to touch upon a common misconception, one that continues to come up in conversation and in the media. During my segment on Oprah's Ask The All-Stars, some viewers may have been confused between a colonic and colonoscopy prep and I would like to clear it up.

The main difference is that a colonic is a way of life. It is a procedure that is performed to assist individuals with easier bowel elimination and hydration. For some, colonics is a way to assist while cleansing and dieting (clearing out toxins naturally rather than using laxatives). Colonics can be performed on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis. Colonics are also being performed in several hospital facilities to assist in preparing for a Colonoscopy (read further for more information). Dr. Hiromi Shinya, MD, is a well-renowned Japanese doctor known for pioneering the modern-day colonoscopy and inventing the procedure to eliminate polyps non-invasively. He is a proponent of enemas and bowel cleansing. In his book, "The Enzyme Factor," he discusses the relationship between enzymes and health. In Dr. Alejandro Junger's book, "Clean," Dr. Junger discusses how to naturally clean and detoxify the body. Through his process, he also supports and recommends colonics. Both these doctors are well-respected and pioneers in their fields. Both doctors (who are western trained) support and recommend putting water up your fanny!!!!

A colonoscopy is a diagnostic procedure that is usually done after the age of 50 to screen for cancer and possible polyps. In order to prepare for the colonoscopy, a person needs to prepare doing "a prep." A liquid diet needs to be consumed 1-3 days prior. The night before the procedure, one or more Bowel Prep Solutions that usually contain sodium phosphate, or sodium sulphate and other unpleasant laxatives are taken to fully clean out the colon for the camera to enter the bowels. This is a process that requires you to be close to home and can be uncomfortable for some people.

Why Is Water Important?

Water has so many amazing properties. Aside from the fact that we can't live without water, why else is this element so important to us as human beings? Water helps us with weight loss. It can increase our metabolism as well as make us feel full so we don't eat as much during a meal. Water can increase your energy. So many of the benefits we receive from water has to do with staying hydrated. If sufficiently hydrated, you are less likely to feel run-down or depleted, your heart will not have to work as hard to pump your blood to the rest of your body, you can prevent muscle cramping, and you have the ability to exercise longer and harder.
