Chemicals That Are Harmful To Your Health

This article contains a brief list of chemicals, which you need to watch for when shopping for consumer products. Below are 8 chemicals that should not be present in the products that you use on a daily basis.

1. Propylene Glycol-It's cheap,synthetic,and a skin irritant. This chemical is a base cream used in creams & lotions to make the skin look and feel smooth.The opposite is true. Propylene Glycol may have a reversing effect, causing the skin to be saggy and lose valuable protein.
2. Sodium LaurlSulfate (SLS)-Normally found in shampoos,soaps, and facial cleasers, this chemical has been used for engine degreasers & garage floor cleaners.  It has a degenerative effect on cell membranes and may damage the skin or your hair follicles. SLS may cause cataracts and has been known to have the capability of changing basic coding in your genetic materials contained in your cells and organs.
3.Mineral Oil-Appears to be harmless, right? This cheap and petroleum-based oil may clog your skin's pores and enlarge them at the same time. Mineral Oil prevents the skin cells from exchanging nutrietnts and waste products.
4.Fragrance-It's usually synthetic & made with over 200 synthetic chemicals. These chemicals can accumulate in your organs & could possibly cause headaches, lung problems, skin irritations and rashes. Fragrances are cheap toxins and often will be manufactured to imitate herbal scents.
5.Parabens (Propyl, Methyl, Butyl, or Ethyl)-These are preservatives and known to be toxic.  Parabens can cause allergies & skin reactions.
6.Imidazolidinyl & DiazolidinylUrea-These are the 2nd most common preserviative to Parabens.  Imidazolidinyl & DiazolidinylUreas cause contact dermatitis and release formaldehyde.
7.Synthetic Colors-Used in skin creams or shampoos to make it pretty & colorful.  AVOID synthetic colors AT ALL COSTS.  These chemicals can cause allergies, skin & nerve problems.  They are listed as FD&C or D&C, followed by a number and color.
8.Triethanolamine (TEA)-This is often used to adjust the pH balance. These chemicals can cause allergic reactions including eye problems, dryness in the hair and skin, and may possibly be toxic if absorbed into the body over long period of time.

Always read labels to ensure that you are getting the most pure ingredients in your products.  Organic is always best.
